1. Where are you from originally? — Roanoke, Virginia. We moved around some growing up. My parents currently live outside Philadelphia, where my two brothers and I attended high school.
2. Did you have any other jobs before law school? — I got my start while in high school washing dishes in an Italian restaurant. I followed that with a summer of telemarketing, before hosting and waiting tables at Denny’s for several years until I graduated college.
3. What’s something surprising/fun that not many people know about you? — I can sing and play piano, though neither as well as I would like. I also played trumpet and baritone horn while in high school.
4. When have you felt the proudest and why? — Anything involving our son, Jake, who is about to begin his freshman year at VCU.
5. What has been your most meaningful accomplishment so far? — From 2021-22, I had the honor of serving as President of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys. I am, to this day, appreciative of the trust placed in me to lead the VADA. Being now one of six HCCW attorneys to have served as VADA President is icing on the cake!
6. You’re happiest when… — I’m with my family.
7. Do you have any pets? — We have a ten-year-old Great Pyrenees rescue, two cats, and a turtle.
8. What is your favorite joke? — Much to my wife and son’s dismay, I am a huge fan of Dad jokes. My two favorites: >>What do you call fake spaghetti? — An impasta.<< >>What do you call a chicken staring at lettuce? — Chicken sees a salad.<<
9. What’s the best trip you’ve ever been on and why? — In March 2007, my wife Kendall and I spent a week in Guatemala when we adopted Jake. He kept us pretty busy that week! Ever since, we have longed to return to Guatemala to see more of the country and its incredible people.
10. Do you have a favorite quote or favorite line from a movie? — “Who’s the wild man now?” from Rudy. A close second, “Hey, Dad. You wanna have a catch?” from Field of Dreams.
11. What TV show/movie are you ashamed to admit you love? — I love game shows. Wheel of Fortune, Cash Cab, The Price is Right, you name it. Hands down, some of the best shows on television!
12. Describe an interesting hobby or pastime that you have. — I’m a baseball fan, primarily the Phillies and UVA. My goal is to visit all 30 major league parks. I’d also like to visit Omaha for the College World Series.
