Staff Spotlight – Kelly Allen
Harman Claytor Corrigan & Wellman’s Staff Spotlight for February is Kelly Allen. Kelly has been a legal assistant at Harman Claytor for 10 years, but has been in the legal field for almost 20 years.
1. Where are you from originally? — I have lived in the Richmond area my whole life – grew up in Varina and now live in Goochland.
2. What is your employment background? — My first legal assistant job was at a small real estate and estate planning firm in 2002, then I moved to a litigation firm. I spent two years as a dental assistant, then came back to another litigation firm, then joined HCCW in 2015.
3. What is at the top of your bucket list? — To visit all of the Hawaiian islands.
4. What’s something surprising/fun that not many people know about you? — I have been to over 30 Dave Matthews Band shows.
5. You’re happiest when… — I’m sitting on the beach.
6. Do you have any pets? — Two dogs (an 11-year-old chocolate lab and a 10-year-old lab/shepherd mix) and two cats (born under the shed at my mom’s house).
7. If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be? — Ireland.
8. If you were stuck on an island, what three things would you bring? — An unlimited supply of Blue Moon, a beach chair and my Kindle.
9. What’s the best trip you’ve ever been on and why? — Visiting Maui in 2019. I was already obsessed with all things Hawaii, but that trip solidified it.
10. Do you have a favorite quote or favorite line from a movie? — “You’re killing me, Smalls!” from The Sandlot.
11. If you could attend any concert, who would it be? — I would love to be able to go back and see Jimmy Buffett.
12. What TV show/movie are you ashamed to admit you love? — The Mighty Ducks, it’s where my love of hockey started.
13. What is the first thing you would buy if you won the lottery? — A house in Maui and a private plane to get there.
