Congratulations to John Owen
Harman Claytor Corrigan & Wellman congratulates John R. Owen for receiving the 2025 Civility & Professionalism Award presented by the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys.
In 2015, VTLA and VADA agreed to create an award in which each group honors a member of the other organization for their civility and professionalism in the practice of law.
Both associations believe that their members have an obligation to be professional with clients, other parties and their counsel (across the aisle), the courts and the public. This obligation includes civility, professional integrity, personal dignity, candor, diligence, respect, courtesy, and cooperation, all of which are essential to the fair administration of justice.
Among the criteria are the recipient’s contributions to the enhancement of professionalism in the legal community and promotion of the highest levels of competence, integrity, and ethical conduct. The attorneys who receive this award are expected to be individuals whose conduct demonstrably exceeds the minimum requirements of the Rules of Professional Conduct, individuals who set the standard of conduct each of us aspires to achieve.
