Stephen grew up in Ireland and earned his bachelor’s degree from Queen’s University, Belfast, before moving to the USA in 2010. He graduated from Charleston School of Law, South Carolina, in 2018, and was the Senior Articles Editor of the Charleston Law Review.

After admission to the South Carolina bar in 2018, Stephen joined the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps and served as a prosecutor, command advisor, and Special Victim Counsel. As a prosecutor, Stephen prosecuted several misdemeanor and felony cases in military courts. As a Special Victim Counsel, Stephen represented victims of domestic violence and sex assault throughout the military Court Martial process. Stephen continues to serve in the U.S. Army Reserves as an Administrative Law Attorney.

After leaving the U.S. Army, Stephen served as corporate counsel for skilled nursing facilities and healthcare providers where he helped maximize recovery though Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party payors. Immediately prior to joining Harman Claytor, Stephen worked as an Attorney Advisor with the Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, SC, where he supported Administrative Law Judges in the Departmental Appeals Board.

Stephen joined Harman Claytor as an associate in May 2025 and focuses primarily on medical malpractice and professional liability matters. When Stephen is not working, he is spending time with his wife and three kids, coaching soccer, and can be found tending to his goats, chickens, and four dogs.
